Leitir Guingad Wind Farm
Leitir Gungaid Wind Farm is situated on the Atlantic coast, 9kms west of Galway, Ireland. It became operational in July 2014 and has a capacity of 44MW. The expected annual electricity generation via its 17 turbines is 130GWh, which will power approximately 30,000 homes across Ireland and save 75,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.
Suir Engineering undertook the full engineering, procurement and construction project on this development, including installation of ducting and cabling at the newly built substation on-site to enable connection to the National Grid. The team also carried out civil and engineering works to the new 50Mva transformer and WTG Collector system and installed numerous cabling, control panels and earthing systems to the facility.
