Imtech secure energy saving installation for Sheffield NHS Trust
Imtech are delighted to announce they have been appointed to deliver a programme of improvements to the mechanical and electrical infrastructure at two NHS sites in Sheffield via the Carbon Energy Fund (CEF) framework.
Working closely with the Estates Team at Sheffield Children’s Hospital and the nearby Becton Centre, Imtech Low Carbon Solutions have identified numerous infrastructure improvements across the two sites that will deliver guaranteed savings for the Trust. The project will be delivered by our Engineering Services team and includes; replacement of lights with LED equivalents, the creation of a new Energy Centre along with decommissioning of individual boiler rooms and the installation of photovoltaic panels and car charging points.
Following the completion of the infrastructure project, Imtech’s Technical Facilities Management business, Imtech Inviron, will deliver the maintenance for the next 15 years. The team will optimise all building systems to ensure the annual guaranteed cost and energy savings are realised. These equate to; 2,500 tonnes of CO2, 5.4MWe of electricity and £600,000 in energy and will be continuously monitored and certified by the CEF.
Andrew Dobbie, Operations Director, Imtech Low Carbon Solutions commented ‘We are looking forward to working alongside Sheffield NHS Trust to deliver an improved solution for their energy requirements. It is particularly pleasing that, working alongside the Carbon Energy Fund, we are able to guarantee cost savings that ultimately provide additional funds for frontline patient care.’
