Suffolk County Council
Imtech Inviron has worked alongside Suffolk County Council since 2002. The technical facilities management contract with Suffolk County Council covers over 700 premises. The portfolio ranges from Victorian schools to modern office blocks, and includes health clinics, sport centres, care homes, drop-in centres, libraries, residential housing, schools and data centres, and spans two thirds of the county. Imtech resolves over 8,500 reactive breakdowns, performs 20,000 planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks and manages up to £3 million worth of project work per year.
BBC MediaCity UK
MediaCity UK is the new home of the BBC’s sport, breakfast and children’s television programmes in Manchester. Described by the BBC as “one of the most ambitious projects” in their history, it has created a new centre of excellence outside London for production, technology development, training and digital media.
Working alongside the principal contractor, we undertook the mechanical and electrical installation including general and emergency lighting and controls, power, fire alarm systems and plumbing services to three new buildings at Salford Quays.
This was a challenging project as our team worked in all three buildings at once, implementing a defined site management programme which ensured all works were fully co-ordinated and completed to schedule.
Lille Barracks in Aldershot is currently undergoing an £8 million private finance initiative by the Ministry of Defence to upgrade buildings in the two garrisons. The 35-year project will improve homes and services for soldiers across Aldershot and Salisbury Plain, and will involve redevelopment to the living quarters, working accommodation, messes and headquarters buildings.
We undertook the mechanical and electrical installation on three residential buildings within the redevelopment. Each three storey residence consisted of 21 en-suite bedrooms, baggage stores, communal rooms, drying and utility rooms. Our team worked to meet a tight deadline, as the installation needed to be completed in good time for the Grenadier Guards return to the UK following a six month deployment in Afghanistan.
BAE Systems Building 430
This project was to extend BAE Systems' existing manufacturing facility to support delivery of its contract with Lockheed Martin for the US Joint Strike Force Programme. It also incorporates a new access road to link the south side of the Samlesbury site in Lancashire from east to west and refurbishment work within the existing building.
We installed the mechanical and electrical services, which included heating, ventilation and cooling, compressed air, sprinklers, building management system, lighting, emergency static inverter lighting, CCTV and access control.
No 1 First Street
No 1 First Street is one of Manchester's most vital developing and regeneration opportunities. The seven-storey office block features large open offices, a sophisticated security system, full VRF air conditioning, LG7 lighting, diverse cable entry points and distribution risers. It also benefits from green roof and green walls and a central full-height atrium, which provides natural light to the offices. The office block required full SBEM/TASS thermal modelling and sign off by Low Carbon Consultants.
Our work on the mechanical and electrical services included the installation of four pipe fan coil units, commercial hot water and low pressure hot water heating systems, ground loop and air source heat pump systems, supply and extract ventilation, lighting, power and CCTV.
Colchester Garrison Personnel Recovery Centre
Colchester Garrison Personnel Recovery Centre, is a purpose-built venue that aids the recovery of injured servicemen and women. It provides the care that they need and supports their return to duties or transition into civilian life. The centre provides residential accommodation for 29 soldiers and has facilities for 31 day-attendees.
We undertook a full design and build of the mechanical and electrical installation. This included the natural ventilation, underfloor heating, domestic water services, power, lighting, nurse call alarms and data cabling. The facility is a collaboration between Morgan Sindall plc, the Royal Military Police Association, the Ministry of Defence, Help for Heroes and the Royal British Legion. It was built in accordance with ‘DREAM' requirements, which is the equivalent to BREEAM for MOD sites.
Energy Performance Contracting
North West Ambulance Service
North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) is the second largest ambulance service in the UK, covering a geographical area of 5,400 square miles across Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.
NWAS are committed to achieving their carbon reduction targets and entered into a 15-year energy performance contract with Imtech via the Carbon and Energy Fund Framework in October 2014.
The initial phase of energy conservation actions covered 11 sites. Imtech’s Low Carbon Solutions team took the opportunity to innovate by implementing various demand-side reductions including installing electronic thermostatic radiator valves and microgeneration measures including solar photovoltaic panels and micro CHP.
