What led you to where you are today?
I initially started my career in finance as a Credit Controller, progressing to Senior Credit Controller.
After doing this role for a number of years, an opportunity for a Sales Representative arose at the company I was at. Taking on the position, I was able to use the knowledge I’d built up of different parts of the business and apply them to my new role.
Following on from this I started to write bids, working for local authorities and then moving onto utility companies including Severn Trent Water, Thames Water and United Utilities.
I have been able to transfer my skills into my current role at Capula and develop new skills that relate to the nuclear industry.
What’s your greatest career achievement to date?
I successfully gained Fit 4 Nuclear status for Capula. This involved initially attaining board level agreement, pursuing the accreditation and then liaising with various teams including Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental and Production.
This has allowed me to gain a better knowledge of how our departments work, and also build rapport with different people within the business.
What skills do you think you need to be successful?
Organisational skills are key to my role, I organise the bid and all the supporting documentation.
Dependant on the value of the tender, we can have numerous engineers working on the solution and I need to make sure that all the information is received within a certain timeframe for me to hit the tender deadline.
