What brought you to Capula?

I started working at Capula in April 2018. I joined the IT Department as a Level 1 Technician through the apprenticeship scheme.

How has your career progressed to date?

I’ve specialised in the Network Engineering side focusing on firewalls, switching and servers within the data centre.

What’s your greatest career achievement to date?

The delivery of the new firewall for the business. Implementing this impacted every person within the business and I gained a lot of experience.

What training have you had that has impacted on your career?

As part of my apprenticeship, I am undertaking an Honours Degree. It’s good when the academic knowledge comes through in the work you do.

What skills do you think you need to be successful?

In my role you need to be personable, punctual, technical and patient. As an apprentice you’ll gain a lot of skills and experience whilst working.

What motivates you?

I enjoy learning about new technology. Whether it be for work, such as new security technologies or new hardware for my PC at home.

What advice would you give to someone starting out on their career?

As someone who is quite shy it felt daunting at first. All I can say is that in time you build knowledge and learn from others, this not only helps you it also helps your peers.
