My first job was an electrical apprentice, following qualification I became a self-employed Electrician. I joined Inviron in 2014 as an Electrician before becoming an Electrical Supervisor. The company supported my development into a Technical Compliance Engineer, then Technical Manager. My current role is an Account Manager on Energy Contracts.
Designing and installing an interactive entertainment system for a Children’s Ward at a local hospital. It enabled the children access to various forms of entertainment via a touch screen in their bedrooms. Going to work was a pleasure.
I think all training has an impact, it helps you grow in confidence and build knowledge. I’ve completed the ILM 5 Leadership and Management qualification and I think my electrical apprenticeship gave me many core skills and life skills
Understanding others, supporting one another inside and outside of work and utilising others knowledge is key. Also being adaptable so you can deal with challenging situations as they arise.
Be committed and never be afraid to ask questions. Set goals and be proud of all your achievements.
The people are fantastic and all pull together when required, as the current challenges have proven.
