Roche Pharmaceuticals HQ

Roche Pharmaceuticals

Roche is one of the world’s leading healthcare groups.  Its pharmaceutical teams in the UK were previously situated across a number of sites. To enable the teams to come together under one roof, a new headquarters was built. This included 21,800m² of office facilities and a separate clinical development facility, the building was awarded a BREEAM rating of ‘excellent’.

Working in conjunction with the professional team, we developed the initial budget cost plan for the installation of the mechanical and electrical services using value engineering techniques.  With the extensive use of the Earn Value Analysis process, the project was delivered within budget and ahead of schedule.

Bio-analytical Laboratories

ISG Jackson

Quotient Bioresearch is a worldwide, leading provider of early phase drug development and sports testing services.  A new high integrity drug testing facility comprising two new laboratories was required to significantly expand Quotient Bioresearch’s service offering – particularly its sports supplement testing service – which would provide banned substance testing for elite athletes at the 2012 Olympic Games.

The project included the conversion of a former stables building, creating 1300m 2 of bio-analytical laboratories, and the redevelopment of existing buildings into a new microbiology facility.  When complete, it provided Quotient Bioresearch with one of the world’s largest bio-analytical facilities to meet the demands of drug development in sport.

We provided the mechanical and electrical installation including full air conditioning and ventilation systems, boiler plant, low temperature hot water heating, thermal insulation, low voltage switchboard and distribution, fire alarm and access control systems, CCTV, voice/data system and laboratory gasses and compressed air.

Lloyds Bank Data Centre

Paradigm Management

Lloyds Bank (formerly LloydsTSB) is a retail bank in the UK and part of the Lloyds Banking Group. It has an extensive network of branches in England and Wales, offering 24-hour telephone and online banking services to more than 16 million personal and business customers.

We delivered the mechanical and electrical installation at the bank’s Peterborough Data Centre. The scope of work involved the near demolition of three warehouse units to the rear of the existing building and included close-control air conditioning, air handling units, public health installation, hot and cold domestic services, and boosted cold water, cooling and ventilation systems.

TeleCity (Stockholm)

TeleCity, Stockholm is a 62,000ft² computer hall development on a single level, separated into eight zones with 4000ft² of mezzanine offices above the plant room. Ancillary plant rooms are also located on the floor and roof area.

We delivered the electrical installation on a serviced environment, which required uninterrupted power at all times.  Designed to allow future modifications to be carried out without power disruption, each zone has an independent UPS Power distribution board fed from two synchronized electrical sources.  Phase one of the project was delivered within a tight 19-week programme, with a two-week lead-in, to meet the client’s sales commitments.

Technical Facilities Management

Data Centre clients

We work with a number of large Data Centre clients, maintaining these facilities – large and small – across the UK. We are familiar with our clients’ businesses and have, over a number of years, developed an in-depth understanding of this sector and each organisation.

We appreciate that what we do has an impact not only on our client’s business but also their clients’ businesses.  Therefore, we provide the flexible approach that is needed, ensuring we are on hand every minute of every day so they feel secure in the knowledge that their systems and services are maintained to optimum levels.

University of Birmingham and Rolls-Royce

The University of Birmingham in partnership with Rolls Royce has established a new £60m, 65,000 sq. ft. High Temperature Research Centre based on Ansty Business Park near Coventry. This unique casting, design, simulation and advanced manufacturing research facility will help to develop future generations of aero engines and make greener, more efficient air travel possible.

Imtech undertook the mechanical and electrical installation and fit-out. During the design, preconstruction and delivery phases the project team, together with main contractor Wates, ensured the project was optimised in terms of safety, value, speed and quality. Our project team also developed and installed a clip system electrical tray and basket that significantly reduced the overall installation time.

The client commented ‘This is the best installation I have seen in 27 years as a Clerk of Works for the University of Birmingham’.
