Women in Imtech

We recognise that a balanced workforce makes for a better business.

“shortlisted in the Diversity and Inclusion category in the UK’s leading industry awards run by the Construction News Journal”

To further the development of our people centric culture we established Women in Imtech. Our industry-recognised initiative was established to support Imtech’s strategy for growth, address the under-representation of women in senior and technical roles and devise a strategy for improving recruitment and retention of women in our group.

“Creating Women in Imtech has been a true privilege and a source of fulfilment in my career, helping other women gain visibility and advancement within Imtech and the industry. We have developed a continuous two-way dialogue with the business via the Women in Imtech Network and our Executive Sponsor”

Women In Imtech

Our Strategy

Since the inception of Women in Imtech in 2017, we have created an initial solution to address the gender imbalance in our workforce which can be summarised into three main projects:

Imtech Strategy

Imtech Enable

aims to support our mid-career women in their personal development and achievement of career potential. By providing tools to encourage women to have the right conversations with their managers and colleagues we enable them to take responsibility for their own development.

Imtech Inspire

aims to encourage more young women to seek a career at Imtech by creating a network of Imtech Inspire Ambassadors and providing them with a ‘toolkit’ to help interaction with students of all ages when attending events.

Imtech Engage

secures the support of our Executive Sponsor, championing communication and women’s views around recruitment, career development and providing flexible, family-friendly work policies that make Imtech a great place to work for everyone.

‘It’s great being part of a group of people who are about supporting each other and breaking down barriers to success. It’s tough out there so it’s really important to have people around you who are all working towards the same goal’

“The Women in Imtech Group have given me the insight and ability to see other women in the wider group.  It has then enabled me to reach out for help, advise or just a general catch up on how we are especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.  The group is very valuable for sharing experiences where you quickly realise you are not alone and others are going through the same or very similar feelings.”

“As Women we will create change by continuing to do the things we are told can’t be done and by attempting to do the things we don’t know how to do, in other words to learn continually”

Driving
Change

The Women in Imtech Network continues to identify, implement and drive change throughout the business including:

  • Improving work/life balance of all employees
  • Promoting agile working to support differing life demands
  • Growing a support network across the group
  • Providing mentorship and coaching for advancement and visibility
  • Celebrating diversity through key events such as International Women’s Day at Imtech

Women in Imtech is making great strides in supporting women gain access to develop their careers and drive the inclusivity agenda forwards. It is also a framework that will enable us to support and develop networks for other minority groups in our business.
